Mansfield Varsity Dominates Foxborough on the Softball Diamond

Mansfield beats Foxborough varsity softball in a 12-0 slaughter rule game.

 

The Mansfield High girls' softball beat Foxborough, 12-0, Monday after the game was stopped after five innings because of the slaughter rule. 

Foxborough struggled from the very beginning. Mansfield pitcher Tricia Hanson had two 1-2-3 out innings, one of which was all strikeouts.

Mansfield kept up offensively as well, with a two-run home run from Briana Chuisano, her third home run of the year.

Mansfield had only one inning where they did not score.

During the rest of the time, they took advatage of many errors Foxborough gave up during the game. Foxborough head coach Lauren Cucinatta said that the Warriors have had a tough time dealing with recent loses from injuries.

"[Defense] has been a key issue all year," she said. "Our pitchers were pitching pretty well, [there were] a lot of catchable balls out there. They had a couple of solid hits, but most of them a solid defense would get. It's all comes down to the defense."

Mansfield head coach Jinneane Sperrazza said that all around it was a good game for the Hornets.

"Everyone got a hit, everyone contributed," she said. "It was a good offensive game."
