Heavy Rain, Strong Winds in Forecast for Mansfield

The following is a hazardous weather warning from the National Weather Service.

The National Weather Service has warned that strong and possibly damaging winds may occur in Mansfield late Tuesday into early Wednesday morning. 

A line of storms is expected along and ahead of a surface cold front. While strong and damaging winds are to be expected with this line there is the low possibility of an isolated brief tornado event.  Heavy rainfall is also expected with total rainfall amounts around 2 inches. Locally heavier amounts are possible. Localized nuisance flooding of urban areas is plausible.

Berkshire County has just issued a tornado watch for the area.

Here's forecast for Mansfield specifically.

  • Tuesday Nihgt: A chance of rain and thunderstorms, then rain and possibly a thunderstorm after 10pm. Patchy fog. Low around 64. Breezy, with a south wind 21 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 40 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.
  • Wednesday: Rain, mainly before noon. High near 67. Northwest wind 8 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New rainfall amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.
