Tractor-Trailer Driver Killed In Mansfield Crash

MANSFIELD, MA — Massachusetts State Police are investigating a tractor-trailer crash in Mansfield Monday morning that left the driver dead.

The tractor-trailer driver, later identified as Peter Fennell, 55, of Missouri, was pronounced dead at the scene, State Troopers said.

Emergency crews responded to the scene on Rt. 495 southbound in Mansfield around 3:35 a.m. to find Fennell with serious injuries.

Massachusetts State Police say the preliminary investigation found the tractor-trailer was going northbound on Rt. 495 when it crossed over the median and all three southbound lanes before crashing into the woods.

It is not yet clear how Fennell ended up on the other side of the highway, but State Police say no other cars were involved.

Rt. 495 South was briefly shut down while police and emergency crews worked to clear the scene.

No additional information was immediately available.
