Woman Identified In Wrong-Way Mansfield Crash On I-495

A 31-year-old woman from Rhode Island was killed after a wrong-way driver slammed into her car on a highway in Mansfield over the weekend.

MANSFIELD, MA — A 31-year-old woman was killed in a wrong-way crash in Mansfield over the weekend, Massachusetts State Police confirmed Monday.

Officers responded to reports of a wrong-way driver on I-495 north early Saturday morning and found two cars had crashed.

An initial investigation determined a Toyota collided with a 2013 Nissan Pathfinder that was traveling the wrong way down the highway.

State police identified the victim Monday morning as 31-year-old Kerrie Dolbashian from Smithfield, R.I. Emergency crews found Dolbashian suffered from fatal injuries at the scene and was pronounced dead.

The wrong-way driver, identified only as a 35-year-old from Pawtucket, R.I., suffered serious but non-life-threatening injuries and was med flighted to Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston.

State police say the crash remains under investigation and the results will determine if the driver will be charged.
