
It's the dog days of summer literally this weekend when you will have the chance to wash your dog downtown. With summer days waning, it may also be the perfect weekend to venture out of town to check out members of Marblehead's Model Yacht Club as they compete in Hamilton.
Watch - Patton Park Vintage Regatta, Saturday, 9 a.m. to noon, free with Wenham Museum admission. Cheer on members of the Marblehead Yach Club as they race 36-inch radio-controlled Cup Racers around the pond at Patton Park. Try operating the controls and visit the Anchors Aweigh! model ship display at the museum.
Volunteer - The deadline to be in the Fall Festival Artisan Fair is approaching. The deadline is August 23. The Marblehead Chamber of Commerce's invites all interested artisans and crafters to apply as an artisan exhibitor at its annual Fall Festival Artisan Fair, Saturday, Sept. 25 (rain date: Sept. 26). This is a one-day show held in conjunction with a weekend sidewalk sale and family activities town-wide. The event hours are 9:30 a.m. to 5 p.m., and this is a juried event with space limited to 40 artist exhibitors. Participation fee is $125. All applying artisans will be notified by Aug. 27 . Wash - From 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, visit Marblehead Pet Supply for a "dog wash." Marblehead Pet Supply will host a charity dog wash to benefit the Friends of Marblehead's Abandoned Animals. Donations can be made at the shop now through the event. Wet cat and kitten food is also being collected in a bin at the newly expanded Village Plaza shop at 30 Bessom St. Dog washes will be available from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. with a $10 cash or check donation to the Friends of Marblehead's Abandoned Animals to benefit the Marblehead Animal Shelter. Listen - The last performance of Summer Jazz Festival is Saturday. Karin Allyson will perform at the Unitarian Universalist Church at 8 p.m. Tickets are $28 at the door.

Donate - At volunteers are matching 540 children-in-need with backpacks and school supplies. Over the summer, the organization has been collecting backpacks and supplies for children aged pre-school to seniors in high school. Now, the organization is starting to put the supplies in the backpacks and get them to children before the start of school. Community of Friends is still seeking material and monetary donation.
