2. Golden: Dutch and Flemish Masterworks from the Rose-Marie and Eijk van Otterloo Collection will open tomorrow at the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem. It will include about 70 paintings, plus several pieces of 17th century Dutch furniture and decorative art. Check out this Marblehead philanthropist and art collector's collection.

3. Go to the me&thee Coffeehouse tonight at 7:30 p.m. for Aoife Clancy and Robbie O'Connell, Irish born cousins, who will perform Celtic and contemporary folk music. Opening the show is Matching Orange a New England talent.

4. It's going to be a messy day. Rain is forecast mainly before 5 p.m. The rain could be heavy at times. The high will be near 47. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New rainfall amounts between 1 and 2 inches possible. 

5. On this day in history: in 1977, an oil tanker exploded west of Honolulu and spilled 31 million gallons of oil.
