Alleged Combative Australians On State Street

This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log from Saturday through Sunday morning.

  • At 7:53 a.m. Saturday, police were called to the high school where the lock had been cut off the football equipment trailer in the lower field. Football equipment was strewn about the field. It was later learned the lock was not cut off, but instead the trailer was never secured properly.
  • At 9:26 a.m. Saturday, a two car crash on Pleasant Street at Smith Street sent one person to the hospital with minor injuries and damaged a fence along the street.
  • At 11:46 p.m. Saturday, a man went into the station and told police his name was being slandered. According to the man, two people are saying he stole a dog and that he is from Immigration. He said these things are not true and he doesn't want "people on the street talking about him."
  • At 11:58 p.m. Saturday, police received a call stating, "two drunk Australians were trying to start  a fight with anyone that goes by" on State Street. Police arrived, but the alleged Aussies were gone on arrival.
  • At 1:13 a.m. Sunday, police were asked whether the town had done mosquito spraying. Police said the town has not. The man said the waterfront smelled like Raid or insecticide.
  • At 3:14 a.m. Sunday, a Gilbert Heights Road resident called police about a man screaming on the street. Police arrived and transported the man to the station. While exiting the car, the man ran away. The Fire Department was called and used thermal imaging cameras to check vacant homes, Swampscott Police were called for back-up and the Essex County Sheriff's office was called for a dog. Swampscott also brought their night vision equipment. Police contracted AT&T to find out where the man was using his cell phone signal. The phone company said he was in the area of Ramsey and Turner Road. Police apprehended the man and transported him by ambulance to North Shore Medical.
  • At 3:15 a.m. police were called to Cloutmans Lane for a loud party with people screaming in the street. Police found kids on a trampoline and told them to keep it quiet.
