Alleged Drunk Sunbather And Teens With A Fire Extinguisher

This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log from Thursday through Saturday morning.

  • At 10:46 a.m. Thursday, a woman called police and said she had walked from Goldthwait to Devereux and back, then back home, and said all the while there was a female laying on the beach in jeans and a blue sweatshirt who seemed intoxicated. The woman told police the woman was near the playground equipment toward the water and was shielding her face with her arm. The woman told police there was an "obvious odor" of alcohol coming from the woman and appeared as though she could have been there all night. Police checked on the woman and she was fine.
  • At 4:38 p.m. Thursday, a truck took down cable and phone lines on Sewall Street. Verizon was notified.
  • At 12:58 a.m. Friday, an Atlantic Avenue resident called police after someone threw a rock through his front window and sped away.
  • At 7:51 a.m. Friday, a driver called police to complain about the gridlock on Smith Street. It was school traffic and was raining, police said.
  • At 8:06 a.m. Friday, police received a call about the toilet in the men's room at the beach overflowing all over the floor.
  • At 8:56 a.m. Friday, a water cap was upturned on Humphrey Street.
  • At 1:56 p.m., Police and Fire responded to the high school where there was an odor of natural gas coming from one of the chemistry rooms.
  • Police spoke to two teens on Washington St. at 10:11 p.m. Friday after they were seen discharging a chemical fire extinguisher. Their parents were also notified.
  • At 2:15 a.m Saturday, police responded to Ocean Avenue where there was a report of two teens trying to break into cars. The person who called police had watched them go into the car, but the teens fled when she started banging on her door for them to stop. The teens fled by foot into yards. Police arrived and began a search on foot for the teens. Police did not locate the teens. Nothing was stolen from the car.
  • At 6:27 a.m. Saturday, police received multiple calls about construction starting too early on Tedesco Street. Police also received calls from Salem residents about the noise. Police spoke with crew who said they will not start until 7 a.m. in the future.
