Alleged Stolen Street Sign And Kid Takes Slingshot To Windows

This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log from Friday through Sunday morning.

 

  • At 11:33 a.m. Friday, a woman in a black BMW was going through recycling bins. Her car was blocking the road, causing a traffic problem.
  • At 2:24 p.m. Friday, the football coach called police to report a kid with an orange shirt on was using a sling shot to try to break some windows on the high school. The kid took off down the access road towards the Post Office he said. Police found the kid and spoke with him.
  • 3:45  p.m., Friday, someone called police from Washington St. where a man was stumbling up the street.
  • At 8:21 p.m. Friday, a resident of Humphrey St. told police he saw a kid climb up a pole and take the Thompson Road sign. The kid was now walking down the street with the sign, the man said. Police were not able to locate the person.
  • At 11:08 p.m. Friday, someone reported a bag of women's shoes at the bus stop on Pleasant St.
  • At 12:51 a.m. Saturday, police were called to Flynnies  where a resident told police there was a group of kids on bikes trashing the area behind the building.  When police arrived the kids were gone but several grills had been knocked over and stoned. A picnic table and barrels were also tipped over.
  • At 9:20 a.m. Saturday, a Ruby Terrace man reported his satellite radio was stolen from his vehicle overnight. An hour later, two other residents reported their cars were broken into as well.
  • At 11:23 a.m. Saturday, a woman was waving down cars on Ocean Avenue at Pleasant St. Fire officials took her in and brought her to Salem Hospital for an evaluation.
  • At 8:03 p.m. Saturday, a woman walking  on Cliff St. reported she saw a man in a car parked on the cliff near the Marblehead Yacht Club slumped over the wheel. She walked by, then went over and knocked on the window, but could not get him to respond. Police arrived and placed the man under protective custody.
  • At 8:06 p.m. Saturday, a man on Broughton Road called police about a group of kids, "hanging out, yelling and screaming and building a tent" behind his house. Police arrived and found a small group of kids camping and no problems.
  • At 8:20 p.m. Saturday, police found anti-semitic graffiti on the back of the Community Center on Humphrey Street. Police are investigating.
