Some items come out of a long tradition to then merge with modern technology. For instance, Kent Stetson, of Kent Stetson Handbags, combined what he learned as a boy on a horse farm with what he learned at Brown University. His mother and his blacksmith father taught him leather craft and metal work respectively. He merged these skills with digital technologies. Other folks, such as Betsy Baker of Stonehouse Studio, are taking a centuries-old craft and using entirely new materials. Betsy creates studio jewelry in polymer and mixed metals.
Come one and all to see what the creative mind can fashion. Further details available at the festival website.
