Beware the Boat Thief
There has been an uptick in breaking and entering of boats moored in Marblehead.
MARBLEHEAD— Police are urging the public to remain vigilant after receiving multiple reports of break-ins to moored boats on the Marblehead West Shore in Salem Harbor. Boats have been boarded, and many valuable items stolen.
Mid-Harbor Marine and the Harbormaster’s Office are advising boaters (especially those who are staying aboard late at night and overnight) to be vigilant and report any suspicious noises or people to authorities.
Marblehead Police said on Facebook, "In the event you do hear/see something, contact either the Marblehead or Salem Harbormasters via the marine radio channel 16. If you don’t have a radio, contact Marblehead Police by calling 781-631-1212 from your cell phone and we will assist."

They also had recommendations for shore-side residents. "If you become aware of suspicious activity on the harbor, please call 911. For boat owners who find their vessels have been boarded – please do not touch anything and contact authorities so detectives can attempt to process the scene. The Harbormasters will transport us to your boat." Harbormasters collaborated in the statement.
