Dozens of Students Stung by Bees

Many students were stung by bees on Thursday afternoon.

As many as 30 Marblehead students were stuck by bees on Thursday afternoon.

It happened at about 4 p.m. as part of a middle school cross-country meet. The students first gathered on Stonybrook Road and later the students were found at Calthrope Road and Hines Court.

Atlantic ambulance sent two ambulances and none of the students needed to be taken to the hospital. Medics treated the students that were stung and school officials helped EMTs collect paperwork from the students.

A school superintendent decided to do “mass refusals” with none of the students going to the hospital, according to police.

All of the rescue crews had cleared by 4:40 p.m.
