Driver Sneezes, Hits House

The following is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log:

  • At 6:02 p.m. Thursday, a person drove into a snowbank on Atlantic Avenue and Commercial Street and needed to be taken to the hospital.
  • Friday morning, police received several calls about cars parked along already tight roads from the snow. Complaints were also made about school traffic. 
  • At 2:35 p.m. Friday, a Barnard Hawkes resident said she got a free armoire and borrowed a dolly from a downtown business to bring it home. When she got home, the woman put the armoire outside her house until her son got there to help her bring it inside. The woman went inside and came back out and the furniture was gone. A neighbor said she saw a man in a pick-up truck stop and take it.
  • At 3:53 p.m. Friday, a power line came down on Ware Lane.
  • At 4:50 p.m. Saturday, police received a call about a "creepy person starring at people" on Pleasant Street.
  • At 4:50 p.m. Saturday, a dog walker called police to alert them of a man whom she has seen multiple times over the week. The person told police she has seen a "Russian looking man" in a tan car with a tooth pick in his mouth. She said the man drives down Trager Road and looks at a house that seems empty. Police told the woman to call when she sees him.
  • At 5 p.m. Saturday, police and fire responded to 102 Pleasant St., after the fire alarms went off. It was found that a dry fire extinguisher was  going off on the third floor. The fire department reset the alarm and replaced the extinguisher.
  • At 5:10 p.m. Saturday, police were called to a building on Atlantic Avenue when three kids were found inside and were not supposed to be there.
  • At 11:42 a.m. Sunday, police were called to the indoor sidewalk sales for shoplifting. A pair of pajamas were stolen.
  • At 3:16 p.m. Sunday, a car hit a house on Elm Street. The driver told police she sneezed, lost control of her car and crashed into the house. The building inspector was called because of damage to the building's foundation, but ruled it was OK. There were no injuries. 
  • At 5 p.m. Sunday, National Grid was called to Front Street for a smell of natural gas. Boston Yacht Club was briefly evacuated.
