Gas Line Break Forces Evacuations

A gas line rupture left a strong smell of natural gas in the area of the Glover School.

A gas line break in front of the Glover School temporarily closed surrounding streets and evacuated residents Thursday morning.

Shortly before 10 a.m., a strong smell of natural gas was reported to police and fire. Crews working in the area had reportedly struck the line. National Grid was notified and turned the line off.

The intersection of Maple, Humphrey and Tedesco streets was closed while the line was shut down.
