MOVIE NIGHT

Sci-Fi movie madness at Marblehead Little Theatre Begins Tonight Stop by the Firehouse to see great sci-fi movies on Friday nights. Tonight's feature is Dr. Strangelove. The Terminator will be shown on Friday, the 17th and Metropolis will grace the screen on the 24th. Tix are $5 or $40 for 10 passes. Doors open at 6:30 and flicks begin at 7 p.m.

At Wednesday's Board of Selectmen meeting, Chairman Jim Nye reminded the board and public that school is in session so slow down. "Leave five minutes early, drive slowly and be courteous," Nye said.

Hampden Hills Alpacas are coming to Fruit of the Four Seasons tomorrow. Come check out their amazing alpaca socks, scarves, jackets and blankets. Socks are awesome for skiing. Don't be sheepish. Stop by beginning at 9:30 a.m.

BREAK A LEG
High schoolers will be smiling for school pictures and auditioning for "Rent" on Monday. Send me an e-mail if your lucky student is part of the cast and feel free to share the school photos! Would love to share news about your kids accomplishments and you can send the link to family and friends.

UP CLOSE AND PERSONAL

Want to get a sneak peak of this year's football season? On Wednesday, Sept. 29, the Men's Group of the Marblehead Council on Aging will host MHS Football Coach James Rudloff at its fall luncheon. Coach James Rudloff is beginning his second season as the head coach of the Marblehead Magicians.In his first season at the helm, the Magicians went 10-3, won the NEC (Small) and played in their first Emass Superbowl.

Coach Rudloff has coached in the NEC for 10 seasons — at Marblehead and Beverly HS. He holds a BS from Northeastern University (where he played tight end for the Huskies) and a M.Ed from Salem State University. Coach Rudloff is a special education teacher at MHS and resides in Marblehead with his wife and three sons. 

The luncheon speaker series, which takes place at the Marblehead Community Center,  is sponsored by the VNA Care Network and Hospice and is designed to encourage  more men to use the senior center. The lunch program begins at noon and costs $8 per person. Payment is due at registration. For  more information, call the center at 781-631-6225.

THE OLD DAYS

Marblehead Cable Access will be presenting a documentary on Marblehead at the Marblehead Little Theatre on Oct. 2, from 6 to 9 p.m. The documentary interviews Marblehead residents about their experience growing up here. Refreshments will be provided.

LIVE MUSIC AT THE SAIL LOFT

At Wednesday's Board of Selectmen meeting the owner of Maddie's Sail Loft asked that her live entertainment license be extended from 11 to 11:30 p.m. on Wednesday nights. Selectmen voted in favor as long as there are no noise complaints. Now you know where to hear live music mid-week.
