Girls Swimming, Diving Claim Second Place in Sectionals

The Marblehead Girls in the most exciting and close north sectional meet battled for 2nd place on Sunday, February 13 at M.I.T. 

With only seven girls on the roster they broke all sorts of records and personal best times to capture the runner up trophy for second place.  Wayland won 1st place by 10 points.

Scoring for Marblehead were the following swimmers and divers: 200 Yd Medley Relay 3rd - Ryan Alexander, Hannah Verrette, Katherine Foley, Megan Alexander - 1:49.63 shaving 3 seconds off their seed.

200 Yd Freestyle Relay5th - Katherine Foley, Tyler Phillips, Sara Daher, Toireasa Rafferty-Millett - 1:43.18 - New Northeast Conference Record 100 Backstroke 1st - Ryan Alexander - 58.07 - New Meet Record 100 Yd Breaststroke 2nd - Hannah Verrette - 1:10.45 - Best Time - 1 second off seeded time 400 Yd Freestyle 1st - Ryan Alexander, Hannah Verrette, Toireasa Rafferty-Millett, Megan Alexander - 3:34.53 - New Meet Record, New Northeast Conference Record, shaving 10 seconds off their seeded time! 

The meet was neck in neck with Wayland and Lincoln Sudbury. Winning the 400 free relay put us in 2nd place overall! The battle begins again next week in the Division 2 State Championship where we will be up against some strong teams from the western part of the state and Wayland.
