Letter To The Editor: Kozitza Deserves The Job
This is one Patch reader's opinion. Letters may be sent to Katherine@Patch.com
To The Editor:
As a life-long resident of Swampscott and an activist in local, state, and national politics, I have never met a candidate for political office with a stronger work ethic than Kate Kozitza, candidate for State Representative in the 8th Essex District.
Kate is a small business owner, a medical professional, and a genuinely good person. She works morning, noon and night to meet the needs of the clients in her medical practice, and then hits the campaign trail--literally "pounding the pavement" day after day, generally seven days a week. Kate is an extremely positive person. She has an abundance of energy and enthusiasm. She is a talented individual. We are lucky to have people like Kate seeking elective office. I am confident that she will be a terrific legislator!

This kind of energy and enthusiasm combined with a change in direction is precisely what our district needs and deserves at this critical juncture in our state's history. I have no doubt that our current state representative has given her best effort to the job. Representative Ehrlich is an honorable public servant, but I firmly believe along with many of her constituents, that it is time for a change.
This is not another anti-incumbent rant or call to simply "throw the bums out." Rather it is an opinion that comes from an assessment of Ms. Ehrlich's own record. Good fiscal policy dictates that when an economy is in recession, or in the process of recovery, raising taxes across the board is counterproductive. Conservatives and liberals can agree that regressive taxation is particularly burdensome to taxpayers in a recession and certainly more so than in healthy economic times.

The raising of our sales tax, as Ms. Ehrlich voted to do, was simply not good for the taxpayers of our district and our Commonwealth.
What Kate Kozitza offers, other than an abundance of energy and enthusiasm and a true commitment to all of her professional responsibilities, is a genuine interest in listening to the hard working constituents in the communities that she seeks to represent on Beacon Hill. She has knocked on almost every door in our district. She has been in your living rooms.
Kate has heard your concerns and she is ready to serve. She is a Republican candidate for State Representative, but she thinks independently and is prepared to make difficult choices. Kate Kozitza is prepared to fight for the people of the 8th Essex District. I enthusiastically support her candidacy and I urge you to join me!
Sincerely,
Edward A. Palleschi
