Marblehead Attorney Nominated for Judgeship

A Marblehead attorney was nominated by Gov. Deval Patrick on Friday to fill a vacancy at Gloucester District Court.

A Marblehead woman has been nominated by Gov. Deval Patrick to become a district court judge.

On Friday, Patrick submitted the nomination to the Governor’s Council, seeking to have Holly Broadbent confirmed as an Associate Justice of the Gloucester District Court.

Broadbent is currently the chief of the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit in the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office, according to an announcement by Patrick.

Broadbent joined the Suffolk DA’s office as an Assistant District Attorney in 1999 and has been in the Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault Unit since 2001.

She is a graduate of Boston College and earned a Bachelor’s degree in 1994. She graduated from Suffolk University Law School, cum laude, in 1997.

If confirmed, she will to fill the Gloucester District Court vacancy created by the retirement of Judge Ellen Flatley.
