Marblehead Bookstore To Donate Portion Of Proceeds To Arts Festival

The Spirit of '76 Bookstore will donate 20% of sales on May 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. to the Marblehead Festival of Arts.

MARBLEHEAD, MA – The Spirit of '76 Bookstore will hold a fundraising event for the Marblehead Festival of Arts next week.

On May 30, from 6 to 8 p.m. the Spirit of '76 will donate 20 percent of its sales to the Marblehead Festival of Arts. The Spirit of ’76, a long beloved independent bookstore and institution of the town of Marblehead, is located at 107 Pleasant St., on the corner of Pleasant and School streets.

Founded in 1962, the Marblehead Festival of Arts has become a forum for artistic expression in the vicinity of Marblehead Harbor.

Held each year over the July 4 holiday, the Festival hosts a wide range of visual art exhibits as well as other events featuring film, music, writing, boat building, and children's activities. The program is designed to provide enjoyment for all ages. During the rest of the year, the MFoA holds its Winter Film Festival; scholarship competitions; logo contest; plus several fundraising events.

Festival board members will be present to chat about events and explain how interested folks can help and participate. The Marblehead Festival of Arts is an all-volunteer organization that operates year-round and relies solely on donations to fund its operations. In its long time support of the Festival, the Spirit of ’76 Bookstore is reflecting steadfast interest in the town and local affairs. Though it provides a full selection of fiction and non-fiction works, it has always showcased works on local and nautical history. Beyond that, the store is known for: facilitating used and out-of- print searches; its children’s books; quality greeting card lines; and superior customer service.
