Marblehead Detours Extended Amid Pleasant Street Digging

Marblehead police said detours were to continue at Village Street on Monday.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Detours continued in the area of Pleasant Street in Marblehead on Monday as digging continued.

Police said Monday morning that all inbound Pleasant Street traffic was to be detoured at Village Street up Village Street hit. Vine Street was open with the temporary "wrong direction" entrance to Veterans School discontinued.

Detoured traffic could travel Heritage Way to get to the area of Village Plaza and the lumberyard, Highland Terrace or West Shore Drive.

Traffic on Village Street was to be only able to turn right onto Vine Street or Pleasant Street to go outbound.

Outbound Pleasant Street traffic was to be detoured at Three Cod Tavern onto Washington Street. From there, drivers could take Prospect Street, Hawkes Streer or Five Corners to Atlantic Avenue. Police said the most direct route was to turn left from Pleasant Street to School Street to Atlantic Avenue.

Business and residential access remained available with the help of police officers at the scene.

Emergency vehicles, MBTA buses and trucks were also allowed to pass through the construction zone.
