Marblehead kids are relatively healthy, according to a new state study on childhood obesity. The study found 23.3 percent of Marblehead school children are either overweight or obese. That figure makes the town the 10th lowest percentage in the state.
CLEANING OUT THE MEDICINE CHEST
Police will conduct a prescription drug disposal day called "Operation Med Sweep" as part of a nationwide initiative by the U.S.Drug Enforcement Administration on September 25, from 8 a.m. to noon at the police station. Residents are encouraged to gather expired, unused and unneeded medications, which will be collected and safely disposed of by the U.S. DEA at no cost to the local community. The prescription drug disposal is free for residents. Syringes, needles, medical devices, thermometers and IV bags can not be accepted. For more information go to www.dea.gov

MHS Site-Based Parents' Council will hold its first meeting tonight. Chairs Pam Demetroulakos and Kim Girard encourage parents to attend the first meeting for the school year tonight at 7 p.m. in the MHS Library. Come hear about what's coming up this year, meet the new principal, team members, and other parents, and have a cookie!
