Marblehead League Of Women Voters To Cohost 'No Kings' Rally

The second No Kings Rally is set for Saturday on Route 114 at the corner of Maple and Lafayette streets.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The Marblehead League of Women Voters is co-hosting a second "No Kings Rally" in the town to coincide with the nationwide protests on Saturday.

The Marblehead rally is Saturday from 4 to 5 p.m. on the corner of Maple Street and Lafayette Street.

The League of Women Voters said the public is invited to bring signs to this peaceful gathering.

The League said the national protests are in reaction to "the Donald Trump Administration's continued move toward authoritarianism and concentration of power."

All No Kings events are planned to adhere to a shared commitment to nonviolent protest and community safety and all organizers are trained.

The League of Women Voters of the U.S. is a partner in the national No Kings Day of Peaceful Protest, joining the ACLU, American Federation of Teachers, Common Defense, Sierra Club. Common Cause, Stand for Science, 50501, Indivisible, Human Rights, Campaign, League of Conservation Voters, National Nurses United, and others.

The League of Women Voters is nonpartisan with respect to candidates and parties but advocates on behalf of League policies and positions.

No Kings is a coalition of numerous progressive and pro-democracy organizations led and coordinated by the national organizing group Indivisible .

In the first No Kings protests in June, millions of people peacefully demonstrated against the policies of President Trump. The protests were held on the same day as the U.S. Army's 250th Anniversary Parade on Trump’s 79th birthday.

At least 2,000 protests will be held this Saturday in every state in the country, with demonstrations planned in most major U.S. cities, as well as in Canada and Mexico.

A large gathering planned on the National Mall in front of the U.S. Capitol drew the ire of House Speaker Mike Johnson, who told Fox News Friday that although he is "a very patient guy," he has "had it with these people."

Protestors’ ranks are expected to be swelled by laid-off federal workers who won’t get a paycheck until the federal government reopens or who may lose their jobs entirely.
