Marblehead Police Welcome Two New Officers

Two Marblehead police officers graduated from the Basic Recruit Academy on Tuesday.

Marblehead has two new police officers.

Officers Christopher Donahue and Michael Maccario joined the department as of 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5 following graduation exercises at the regional police academy in Reading, according to a Facebook post by Marblehead police.

They both successfully completed the five and a half month Basic Recruit Academy along with about 45 other officers from around Massachusetts, according to police. An official “swearing in” ceremony with the Board of Selectmen will take place at a date to be determined.

“We are looking forward to their return and many years of safe and productive service to the community,” police said in its announcement.

For the next three months they will take part in field training with veteran officers before they start patrolling on their own.

Both officers are from Marblehead and are replacing officers who have left to work at other police departments. The total number of officers remains the same, according to police.
