Marblehead Senior Dies From Pedestrian Strike Injuries
Marblehead police said 80-year-old Karl Johnson died from injuries suffered in the Oct. 27 strike on Pleasant Street.
MARBLEHEAD, MA — An 80-year-old Marblehead man who sustained critical injuries in an Oct. 27 pedestrian strike on Pleasant Street died from those injuries, according to Marblehead Police Chief Dennis King.
King said on Tuesday morning that Karl Johnson died more than a week after he was taken to Beth Israel Hospital following the strike at about 6 p.m. on Oct. 27.
"As the investigation is ongoing there is only limited information that can be shared without compromising its integrity," King said on Tuesday.

King said the collision happened on Pleasant Street about halfway between two crosswalks. He said the driver of the vehicle stayed at the scene and has cooperated with investigators.
"Our focus is twofold at this time," King said. "First, to ensure privacy and supportive services to the Johnson family. Second, to conduct a complete and thorough investigation with our partnering agencies."
