Snow Day In Marblehead With No School For All Public Schools
All morning and afternoon activities are postponed or canceled in the district because of the expected snow.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — Marblehead Public Schools students get to enjoy a snow day on Tuesday after Superintendent John Buckey closed schools for the day Monday night.
Buckey said all public schools would be closed and all morning and afternoon activities were canceled on Tuesday.
A snow emergency parking ban was also declared in Marblehead starting at midnight Monday night.

The Marblehead snow emergency means that all vehicles and boats parked on public streets must be moved or be subject to ticketing and towing. Per Marblehead's snow emergency bylaw, the snow emergency was set to expire at 7 a.m. unless extended.
Residents whose vehicle is towed during a snow emergency should call the Marblehead Police Department at 781-631-1212 to confirm the location of the vehicle. All vehicles are towed to the designated town tow lot at the Transfer Station at 5 Woodfin Terrace by Bill's Towing.

Residents are reminded that depositing snow and ice, on or against a fire hydrant, or on any sidewalk or roadway is prohibited.
Up to six inches of snow was forecast between Monday night and Tuesday. Heavier amounts were expected to occur earlier in the storm with some mixing with rain and sleet as Tuesday progresses.
The National Weather Service forecast called for the heaviest snowfall coming Monday night, resulting in difficult travel conditions. Wind gusts of up to 35 mph are also expected.
"The snow should develop between 10 p.m. (Monday) and 2 a.m. Tuesday," according to The NWS. "Snow continues on Tuesday impacting the morning commute. Snow will diminish in intensity Tuesday afternoon and may even mix with or change to rain near the coast.
"In addition ... temps rising above freezing will likely limit the impact for the Tuesday afternoon commute."
