Marblehead Traffic, Rail Trail Parking Distruptions Set For Thursday

The restrictions are need for the delivery of large transformers for the town's main electric substation.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The arrival of new transformers for Marblehead's main electric substation will cause traffic and parking disruption in the rail trail area of Pleasant and Bessom streets on Thursday.

Very large tractor-trailers are needed to move the transformers, which will arrive on Tedesco Street and continue straight to Humphrey Street to Pleasant Street. They will need to take a wide left turn onto Besson Street and a second wide left turn onto the railroad right-of-way at the rail trail for delivery to the Village 13 substation.

There will be temporary parking restrictions on the even-numbered side of Pleasant Street from Bessom 150 feet toward Village Street, the right side of Village Plaza at Bessom extending in from Pleasant Street, on Roadhouse Road and at the Bessom Street end of Heritage Way.

Cones and signage will be put in place Wednesday late day to give residents and merchants notice. These restrictions will be in place to ensure the four trucks can make the turns, given their oversized length and width.

Parking restrictions will begin early on Thursday morning and will be removed once the last truck has cleared the area.
