Marblehead To Use $40K State Grant On Traffic Safety, Outreach
Marblehead Police Chief Dennis King said the funds will go toward enforcement and education efforts such as a bike rodeo.

MARBLEHEAD, MA — The Marblehead Police Department will use $40,000 in state Road Safety grants toward a combination of traffic safety enforcement and education programs.
Marblehead Police Chief Dennis King said the $39,999 is about 15 percent more than the town got last year and is part of the $5.4 million in statewide grants from the Office of Public Safety and Security.
"The increase in funding shows our commitment to address traffic and road safety," King said. "However, it's not only about enforcement but also about educating and community engagement around topics such as bike safety, which will be highlighted by hosting a bike rodeo."

"As a former mayor, I understand how important these grants are to ensuring safer streets in our neighborhoods," said Lt. Governor and former Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll. "Every community seeks to enhance the safety of their roadways, but each faces unique needs. This program provides cities and towns the flexibility to identify and invest in the traffic safety issues that are most pressing in their own communities."
