Looking ahead, MLT is planning another ambitious season aimed to make the School Street theatre a destination for the performing arts.

"We have gone from having the typical fall and spring shows to having a full calendar of offerings," President Janet Sheehan said.

With shows, such as Willy Wonka, One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest and The 39 Steps planned, the theatre will also continue its Movie Fridays in the fall with themes such as "science fiction," "ghosts" and "spy movies."

"We want the community to expect we have something going on," said Ginny Morton. Morton has run the successful children's theatre for decades. "We want people to drive by and see what's playing."

Also planned this year are an installation of a new janitor sink, supplemental heating and a blue light system for the green room.

MLT is still awaiting funding for other needed big-ticket projects, such as an entrance vestibule, terrace lighting, second-floor bathroom and the much needed 12 tower windows.

"With the spirit of the community and good will, we will make it work," Sheehan said.

MLT will continue its calendar of offerings with Side-By-Side-By-Sondheim, a tribute to composer and lyricist Stephen Sondheim from Aug. 6 through 8 and 13 through 15.
