North Shore Beach Shooting 'Not A Random Act': Police

Nahant police said a person was hospitalized after being shot in the Long Beach Reservation parking lot early Wednesday night.

NAHANT, MA — A shooting near a popular North Shore beach that caused one person to be hospitalized is believed to be "not a random act" with no threat to the general public, according to the Nahant Police Department.

Nahant police said they responded to a call of shots fired in the parking lot of the Long Beach Reservation at about 8 p.m. on Wednesday.

Police said on Thursday that it was "not an active shooter situation" and that the "general public was not in danger."

Nahant police, fire, Lynn police, Massachusetts State Police and Cataldo Ambulance all responded and the victim was taken to an area hospital.

The State Police are investigating the shooting.
