Police Log: Boat Hits Village Street Pier

This is an excerpt of the Marblehead Police log from Friday, July 2, through Sunday, July 4, at 7 a.m.

  • At 2:47 p.m. Friday, a larceny was reported at the bus stop on Humphrey Street. According to the victim and witnesses, the suspect reached down and took someone's wallet out of their purse and then jumped on the bus. The suspect was wearing a blue top and jean shorts. The suspect is described as a bald, white man around 5 foot, 8 inches tall and 210 pounds. MBTA Police arrived to investigate.
  • At 7:18 a.m. Saturday, a Chestnut Street woman called to tell police that a woman in a lime green/neon yellow pant suit came to her door collecting money to bury her son.
  • At 11:20 a.m. Saturday, a caller said she was walking on Anderson Street and she saw a house in "deplorable condition." She wonders how it is allowed in Marblehead. She was told by police that she could get that answer from the buiilding inspector on Tuesday.
  • At 4:06 p.m. Saturday, a man called police wanting to speak with an officer about a woman yelling " child molester " at him.
  • At 6:12 p.m., Saturday, police and the harbormaster responded to the dock on Village Street after reports that a boat hit the dock and left the scene. Reports came in that the alleged boater has a group that got off the boat maybe heading up toward Village Street wearing blue shorts and one wearing gray shorts. The harbormaster found the boat and captain; captain was not intoxicated, but the boat was damaged. Police placed one person in protective custody and took a report of damage to the boat and pier.
  • At 9:37 p.m. Saturday, an Elm Street woman called police to say that her stepson was dropping off some drum equipment at the front of the house when he was threatened by the neighbor whose male friend came outside and verbally threatened the stepson. He reported told the stepson that he is a federal law enforcement office and he didn't belong there and should leave the area.
