Car Snaps Pole On The Neck
This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log from Thursday, August 19 through Friday, August 20 at 6 a.m.
- At 11:34 a.m. Thursday, an Oak Circle man went to the police to tell them about an accident that happened the day before. On Wednesday, An 18 -year-old male ran into the rear of his "classic car" on his bike. There was a loud bang as he hit the car, the man said. The driver pulled over and there were no apparent injuries to the teen. The teen gave the man his name and phone number. A very short time later, the man said he re-checked his car, a 1970 Cutlass convertible, and saw that the trunk cover was slightly dented. The man called the teen's home and left a message with his name and number. There has been no response. The man said he hoped the people have insurance because he's going to go after them for damages.
- At 1:44 p.m. Thursday, police pulled over a car on Pleasant Street after suspecting a guilty party was riding in the car. They subsequently arrested, John G. Murphy, 30, 10 Beach St., Marblehead, and charged him with two counts of larceny more than $250 and on a warrant. Bail was not set and the man was transported to Essex County Correctional Facility in Middleton.
- At 6:43 p.m. Thursday, a person walking on Roundhouse Road saw a man passed out on the steps behind Joe Green Insurance Agency. The caller was not sure if the male was passed out or drunk. The caller stated she sees him walking around town regularly. Police drove the man home.
- At 9:26 p.m. Thursday, multiple calls flooded dispatch after a motor vehicle struck a pole on Harbor Avenue. Four teens got out of the car on their own. The electrical pole they hit was snapped in half and the electric department was called to fix it. One of the teens was transported to Children's Hospital Boston. The others were released to their parents.
