Police Log: Underwear Thrown Through a Window and Large Amount of Missing Change

This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police Log from Wednesday, August, 4 through Friday, August 6 at 6 a.m.

  • Wednesday at 7:50 a.m., Fire Ladder 1 was deemed out of service for at least the remainder of the week. The town has called over to Swampscott and they are available to cover on request. 
  • At 9:58 a.m. Wednesday, two Tioga Way neighbors called police over a fence dispute.
  • At 11:05 a.m. Wednesday, a Circle Street resident called police concerning a property for sale at 20 Circle St. The neighbor said the house is being advertised for sale with parking. He said what they do in the winter is park in front of the house, which makes access/egress from his house difficult. The matter was referred to the building inspector.
  • At 11:12 a.m. Wednesday, police went to Ruby Avenue to retrieve a rusted air rifle found in a tenant's garage.  
  • At 12:44 p.m. Wednesday, calls came in about an erratic driver on Humphrey Street, headed to Swampscott. The car was described as a green Oldsmobile and was crossing the yellow line. The car almost hit a tree and a pole, the callers said. A person on the phone with Marblehead Police from their car, followed the car into Swampscott and said there were two other near head-on accidents. Swampscott was notified and put out a be on the look out alert. The person on the phone with Marblehead Police reported the car struck someone in Swampscott near Anthony's Restaurant.  When Swampscott Police responded, they found the driver was suffering from a medical condition and transported them to the hospital. There was no word on the person struck.
  • At 10:01 p.m. Wednesday, a Pleasant Street man said his change jar, which contained $700 in change, was missing.
  • At 12:49 a.m. Thursday, a Creesy Street resident reported to police that there was a white van in front of the apartments and that she believed there were people  having sex in it. Police found there were people in the van sleeping on the side of the road. They were moved along.
  • A resident of State Street called police at 4:08 a.m. Thursday to report she was harassed by youths who threw some underwear in her window. According to the resident, they also threw a knife in her window. 
  • At 10:55 p.m. Thursday, three teens were cited for smoking a class D substance on Laurel Street.
