Police Log: Police Investigating Smashed Windows Around Town

This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log from Sunday, June 27, at 9:13 p.m. through Tuesday, June 29, at 7:30 a.m.

  • At 9:13 p.m. Sunday, a caller reported kids were messing with the golf carts at Tedesco Country Club. There were extra carts for the Tedesco Cup and the kids were letting air out of the tires and last seen running on West Street. The caller wanted police to make regular patrols of the area. 
  • A resident of Ocean Avenue called police at 10 a.m. Monday to tell them a green sign shaped like a man (pedestrian crossing) was stolen. Police found the sign and flag on Nanepashemet. Returned to owner.
  • At 10:04 a.m. Monday, a Front Street caller told police she would like something done about the refrigerated trucks running at the Pier. She told police that she knows they need to keep the fish cold, but wants to know the noise law on them. Police informed the woman there isn't a noise law and its a commercial vehicle that needs to engine running. Police spoke to the driver of the truck who says engine must stay running because if not, the fish will rot. Police noted the weather was suppose to reach 90 degrees and humid.
  • A Fox Run Road resident called police at 10:29 a.m. Monday to let them know that early that morning, around 4:20 a.m., the house alarm went off. This morning, the resident looked and the glass door was ajar and some trash cans had been knocked over and the rear gate was open. He said no entry was gained and no signs of forced entry but wanted to know if there was any other activity in the neighborhood. Police had no other reports.
  • At 9:01 p.m. Monday, a Phillips Street resident called to report a possible drug deal. She couldn't say that she saw actual drugs being dealt, but said it's "a known neighborhood and the kids are up at the stones now." Police found a dark pickup truck and dispersed a small group from the beach; there was no drug activity.
  • An Ocean Avenue resident called police at 9:57 p.m. Monday because kids were shooting fireworks off. Police cleared the kids and had them clean up their mess.
  • At 10:48 p.m. Monday a motor vehicle stop on West Shore Drive ended in an arrest.  Russell Amlyn IV, 37, 190 Swift Ave., Osterville, was arrested on a warrant for a non Marblehead larceny of over $250. The larceny occurred in the Barnstable district. Officer Chuck Sinclair made the arrest.
  • At 1 a.m. Tuesday, Officer Christopher Gallo saw a car window smashed on West Shore Drive. Gallo believes it's from a BB gun. Police are investigating.
  • At  7:27 a.m. Tuesday, a Peach Highlands resident called police to let them know his car window had been smashed out. Police are investigating.
