Police Log: Jeep Tries To Jump Hill And Reckless Teens

This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log from Tuesday, July 20, through Wednesday, July 21.

  • At 7:46 a.m. Tuesday, a Shetland Road resident called to report cement trucks lining the road. The resident said, according to the zoning board, no trucks can park on the road idling. Police then received a call from the contractor who stated that a resident "threatened to make his life miserable and his job miserable." The contractor said because of a large pile of dirt he can't park the trucks on the property. Once the foundation is poured, he will comply, he said. The contractor also told police he had sent a letter to the neighborhood giving them his cell phone so they could call him directly with complaints.
  • At 8:36 a.m. Tuesday, a Gingerbread Lane woman called police to report her purse was missing and she believed her house was broken into sometime between Saturday night and Sunday morning. The woman's children were having a cookout and the front door was left open. She didn't need her purse on Sunday and therefore didn't notice it missing.
  • At 2:15 p.m. a person called police reports seven or eight "pre-teens acting recklessly at the Village Street pier." The person told police the pre-teens were  climbing to the top most point of the pier and jumping in; it was low tide. The person also reported that the kids were throwing backpacks into the water. The caller said she tried to talk to one of the kids and he made a "screeching noise in her ear." The kids left when police arrived.
  • At 9:28 p.m. Tuesday, a Peach Highlands resident called after he saw a jeep with one light out doing laps around the neighborhood "trying to get air off the hill." Police tracked down the Jeep and issued a citation for driving to endanger.
  • At 10:55 p.m. Tuesday, a Rockaway Avenue resident called police after he heard a loud smash and then a car screech away. When he looked out the window, a car across the street had their window smashed.
  • At 10 a.m. Monday, the father of a lifeguard came into the station to report a man bothered his daughter while she worked. The lifeguards will speak to the Recreation Director about posting a sign that says no one can sit within 10 feet of the lifeguard stand.
