Suspicious Man Looks At Rain Gauge
This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log on Wednesday, August 25.

- At 9:15 a.m. Wednesday, an Oak St. resident said there was a male in a hoodie going into a neighbor's yard with a clip board and seemed to be checking a rain gauge. The caller said the man knew she was watching him and she said he left after five minutes.
- At 10:39 a.m. Wednesday, police picked up two uncapped syringes on West Shore Drive.
- A man walked into the Franklin Street Fire Station at 1:39 p.m. Wednesday, and said near 147 Front St., there was a 13-foot whaler sinking. Dispatch notified harbormaster who checked the area.
- At 6:08 p.m. Wednesday, a resident called to report a boat sinking on its mooring in Salem Harbor. It was a 17-foot Mako. The harbormaster was notified.
- At 8:41 p.m. Wednesday, a resident of Humphrey Street, said he observed a drug transaction. A male got out of a car and walked up the street talking on a phone. A red Jeep pulled up and the caller said he saw something change hands. The male then got into the Jeep, and it drove off inbound.
- At 8:56 p.m. a State Street resident called about a band playing at a State Street restaurant. She did not believe the restaurant had a permit for live entertainment. Police spoke to the restaurant owner, who had the permit in hand from the Board of Selectmen.
