Police Log: Woman Gets Hand Caught In Window and Suspicious People
This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log from Tuesday, July 6, through Wednesday, July 7, at 7 a.m.
- At 8:07 a.m. Tuesday, a Cyprus Street resident called police saying things were missing and the caller believed someone broke into the home. Swampscott Police later found a key and wallet that belonged to the resident. Electronics, cash and medication were not recovered.
- The Fire Department was called to Yolande Road at 8:21 a.m. Tuesday for reports of smoke in the basement. When officials arrived, they found a light haze and determined it was coming from the furnace. The furnace was shut down and the area ventilated.
- An Ocean Avenue man was on his boat when he called police at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday to report he saw a bald man wearing white shorts and no shirt climbing on the rocks on his property . The man said he doesn't mind the man in the water in front of his property, but doesn't want him on the property. At the time, there were children home with a babysitter. The man left the area before police arrived.
- At 5:45 p.m., a Lindbergh Road resident told police two white males in their late-30s or early-40s wearing matching shirts said they were from the bank and came to survey the land at about noon. The man reportedly told police that one of them was on the back porch looking in the window. At the time, the homeowner was on the phone and was unable to check their credentials. He did not think anything of it because he signed the purchasing agreement over the weekend to sell the house. He called later and checked with the bank and realtor and they had not sent anyone. He wanted the incident logged and an extra eye kept on the area.
- At 7:03 p.m., power to Shepard Street was out. The electric department was notified and power was restored.
- At 8:04 p.m. an Atlantic Avenue neighbor called police after she heard someone screaming "help." Another neighbor reported to police he saw a male running from the area. When police arrived, they found the woman had gotten her hand stuck in the window and it was her husband running to help her.
- At 9:24 p.m. the fire department responded to State Street where there was a report of a "crackling" noise coming from the walls and a smell of an electrical fire. Firefighters found it was an electrical problem in the refrigerator.
