Police Log: Walker Doused By Water On Ocean Avenue
This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log from Monday through Wednesday at 6 a.m.
- At 7:12 p.m. Monday, a woman walked into the police station with a hand-written note that was left on her car on Front Street. It stated, "don't park in front of my doorway, 31 Front Street." The woman was upset that it is a legal spot and said she will not be intimidated. She asked what could be done about it. Police explained it was not illegal to leave the note on the car. The woman told police they shouldn't allow people in Marblehead to behave that way and she will get a lawyer to handle it if she has to. Police advised the woman to park elsewhere because she feared that someone would damage her car (such as scratching it with a key); she refused, stating that she won't back down.
- At 2:49 p.m. Tuesday, police received a call stating two men were wheeling a blue United Postal Service mailbox on a dolly on West Shore Drive heading toward Gatchells. The caller said the men were not in uniforms and there was no UPS truck in the area. Police checked with a postal worker who said the two men are custodians at the post office and moving the box was a planned event.
- At 6:57 p.m. Tuesday, police responded to Ocean Avenue where a man was walking when he was struck by liquid from a bottle out of a passing car. The bottle didn't hit him but the liquid did. The vehicle was a black Jeep Wrangler with several occupants, last seen outbound on the neck. Police located the vehicle at Devereux Beach parking lot. The person was actually struck by liquid from a water gun, not a bottle according to the driver of the car. Police spoke to the driver about squirting water from vehicles.
- A motor vehicle stop at 9:13 p.m. Tuesday resulted in the arrest of Matthew Munroe, 19, 31 Belleview Avenue, Salem, on a warrant. Officer Eric Osattin made the arrest on Smith Street.
- Police responded to 105 Ocean Ave., for an attempted break-in at 4:55 a.m. Wednesday. The alarm scared the intruders away but they did break a window. Police are investigating.
