Police Searching for Hit and Run Driver
A bicyclist was injured in the incident Wednesday night.

Police are asking for the public's help in locating a driver involved in a hit and run accident Wednesday night.
Shortly after 10 p.m., police received a call to Lafayette Street in the area of A witness at the scene told police he was walking on Lafayette Street when he passed a bicyclist. A few minutes later, the witness heard a "loud bang," looked back and saw the bicyclist laying on the ground, he told police.

According to police, the victim was alert when they arrived and told police he was riding his bike when he was struck from behind.
The victim described the vehicle that hit him as a newer model white sedan,
possibly an Infiniti or Toyota, police said. The victim told police that the vehicle that hit him fled the scene without ever stopping.

Police issued a Be on the Lookout Alert message to surrounding departments
(specifically Salem State, Salem, and Swampscott) for the suspect vehicle.
Police said white paint was visible on the victim's badly damage bicycle. Police also noted in their report that the victim had a working light on his bicycle that was still on when they arrived.
The victim was transported, treated and released from the hospital, Police Chief Robert Picariello said Thursday morning.
