Popular Boston Fitness Instructor Also Teaches in Town
Dennis Goldsmith has instructed JCC members for a decade.
You don't have to venture into Boston or pay a hefty gym membership to get personal training.
That's because Dennis Goldsmith, a popular Boston area fitness instructor, also teaches some of the most well-attended fitness classes on the North Shore – at the Jewish Community Center.
"He's got great energy," said Marci Alpern, who takes Body Pump with Goldsmith. "He makes it fun and it's a great workout."

For more than a decade, Goldsmith has built a following at the JCC while also become well known in Boston. He was recently named one of Boston's best instructors by Boston Magazine. He is first runner up in the Best Group Exercise Instructor category for 2010.
At the JCC, Goldsmith teaches Body Pump, Yoga, Kickboxing and Tae Kwon Do. He also does personal training.

"He is so motivating. I love it when he sings in class," JCC member Eileen Laband said. "I always feel stronger after his workout."
With a master's degree from Harvard in counseling and consulting psychology, Goldsmith worked with troubled teens for years, before getting into fitness.
He is also a fourth degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do and a certified personal trainer. He lives in Cambridge and commutes to Marblehead a few times a week to teach.
"It's a long drive, but I love it here at the JCC," Goldsmith said. "All my students are so warm and so energetic. I come here for the people."
He is currently teaching Body Pump and Yoga several times a week. Classes are free for JCC members and $10 for non-members. This fall, he'll also be teaching Kickboxing and Tae Kwon Do.
