Road Closures, Traffic Delays on Rt. 1A in Salem Wednesday Afternoon

If you are planning to drive through Salem on Wednesday afternoon or evening, be aware that a portion of Route 1A will be closed for the Witches Cup bicycle race, according to city officials.

Starting at 4 p.m., Route 1A (including Washington Square West and Washington Square North) from Winter Street to Essex Street will be closed to all traffic, Additionally, all streets connecting to Salem Common will be closed to traffic until 8 p.m.

No parking will be allowed around both sides of the perimeter of Salem Common beginning at 3 p.m.

Traffic delays should also be expected, city officials said, and drivers should seek alternate routes during the races, which run until about 8 p.m.
