Rock Musical Destiny Gives Children a Voice
Destiny includes cast members from Swampscott and Marblehead and will be performed this Sunday, 8/5, at 3 and 7 pm at Temple B'nai in Beverly.

A group of Marblehead and Swampscott kids are performing in a rock musical called Destiny that relates to problems children and teenagers face — bullying, gossip, littering — and to global issues such as war, terrorism, racism, and anti-semitism.

Written and produced by Marblehead director Barbara Eyges, this play was originally performed in Marblehead in 1985. It was so well-received that the kids were invited to perform it for the United Nations in New York City.
The cast of 6 young actresses stars Marbleheaders Claire Coen, Elizabeth Tauro, and Tabitha Vania with Anna Coughlin from Swampscott, Katie Moloney of Salem, and Mariella Robinson from Beverly.

The musical comedy is based on the theme of world peace as seen through the eyes of children. As these young people confront current world problems they discover a basic truth of how to make the world a better place for all humanity but not before they experience some of these world issues among themselves.
Destiny will be presented on Sunday, Aug. 5, at Temple B’Nai Abraham, 200 East Lothrop Street in Beverly. Curtain times are 3 and 7 pm. The suggested ticket donation is $10 for the general public and $5 for children ages 5 and under. Tickets are available at the door but reservations are recommended.
