Sept. 11 Made Way for Positive Spirit, Looking to Promise of the Future

The town of Marblehead paid tribute to the victims of the Sept. 11, 2011 attacks in a remembrance ceremony at Memorial Park.

MHTV captured the remembrance ceremony on Thursday that paid tribute to the victims of Sept. 11, 2011 on the 13th anniversary of the terrorist attacks.

The ceremony at Memorial Park included speakers from the Marblehead Fire Department, bagpipes playing, bell ringing and the playing of ”Taps.”

“Rather than dwelling in the past, I have chosen to see the positive spirit of our citizens who have chosen to look at the promise of our future,” Fire Chief Jason Gilliland said in his prepared words, after describing his initial feelings of sadness, loss, rage and hopelessness on the morning of the attacks.
