Teen Placed Under House Arrest

Teen charged with assaulting and robbing another teen will be at home until his next court date

A Marblehead teen charged with beating and robbing another teen will be back in town under house arrest.

Michael Leoni, 18, of Devereux Terrace along with Michael Ehlert, 18, of 12 Reed St., allegedly attacked another  teenager last fall  as he was walking to a downtown one evening.

According to court reports, Leoni has been attending a six-month inpatient treatment program for substance abuse and mental health problems in Maine.

Leoni and Ehlert have been charged with multiple counts of unarmed robbery, assault and battery and witness intimidation.

Ehlert has been held without bail since the attack. Ehlert's older brother, Zachary, 22, of Reed St., is charged with two counts of witness intimidation arising from phone calls allegedly made to the victim's home after his brother was arrested.

Yesterday, Judge Timothy Feeley ordered Leoni  be released to the custody of both his parents.

Leoni will return to Massachusetts in two weeks where he will stay under house arrest with his mother. As a condition of his release, he will also continue to attend Alcoholics Anonymous  meetings, subject to supervised attendance and he must stay away from the victim.

Leoni case is continued until June 22.
