LIFE SAVER
Ribcraft USA owner Bryan Gray had quite the surprise Tuesday afternoon when he found out a customer of his rescued two people off their 32' sailboat, "Wind Seeker." The rescue occurred after the boat went near Baker's Island. The Coast Guard and Salem Harbormasters stood by as James Bryant of Gregory Street moved his 15' RIBCRAFT into position next to the boat and assisted removing the husband and wife. Check out the photos and video for proof!

SPECIAL TOWN MEETING TO BE CONSIDERED TONIGHT
Bubier Road homeowner Wayne Johnson has gathered enough signatures of registered voters to petition the selectmen call a special town meeting. Johnson wants the town to discuss a proposed amendment to the Zoning Bylaw, which calls for his home to be removed. After a decade of fighting, a Land Court Judge ruled the home must be torn down by October 4 or Johnson will be held in contempt of court.

Within 45 days of a certified petition, selectmen are suppose call a town meeting though there are ways around it.
Mass. General Laws Chapter 39, Section 12, reads, "If the selectmen unreasonably refuse to call a town meeting, a justice of the peace, upon written application of one hundred registered voters or of 10 percent of the total number of registered voters of the town, may call a meeting by a warrant under his hand."
The 45 days started on September 1.
Assistant Town Counsel Lisa Mead will be at tonight's Board of Selectmen meeting to give the board their options.
TO SLURPEE OR NOT TO SLURPEE?
White Hen Pantry locations in Salem and Peabody are being converted to 7-11 convenient stores. Marblehead's White Hen Pantry manager says he hasn't heard from anyone about plans for his store. If it were to covert to a 7-11, that would be two places to get your foot-long hot dog and slurpee fix within a couple of blocks.
WHAT A CATCH!
Monday night at Devereux Beach, local resident and known fisherman Jeffrey Best landed this beauty (pictured). Who needs a boat!
EGG-CELLENT NEWS
No reason to worry about breakfast in Marblehead. While the nation fretted about the safety of their eggs, Health Director Wayne Attridge is assuring residents that no local eggs have been impacted by the national recall.
Attridge has checked with local stores and restaurants and none are selling the tainted eggs. Egg-cellent!
ON CHERCHE UN CADEAU?
Jet-setter and Selectwoman Jackie Belf-Becker will be traveling to Grasse, France this month to visit Marblehead's sister city. In May, representatives from Grasse, including the mayor of the small town in Southern France, visited Marblehead.
At the last Board of Selectmen's meeting, Belf-Becker asked fellow members what gifts she should bring to Grasse from the Abbot Hall gift shop. Members Judy Jacobi and Jim Nye told her to use her judgement to choose. We're sure it will likely feature the Spirit of '76.
One thing is for sure: Grasse is the perfume capital of the world so Belf-Becker will likely come back smelling like a rose!
