Week In Review, July 11 through July 17

Here's a look at what happened in town this week.

This week started off with the announcement from a state tourism committee that six locations in Marblehead are on the list of "1,000 places to visit" in the state.

Chamber of Commerce Director Ann Marie Casey said she believes the list includes all the places that make the town great.

Unsettled weather meant more torrential downpours on Monday and on Tuesday a water main break disrupted water flow to Clifton Avenue for the day.

On Wednesday, a decision to move the large employer HCPro out of town and to better digs in Danvers was announced. The company will vacate the 200 Hoods Lane property in the fall.

The weekend wrapped up with a mystery. Police and the harbormaster are trying to find who has the key to the lighthouse. Whoever has it is opening the door and leaving it open for people to go in. On the Fourth of July, someone turned the beacon off which left boaters in the darkness.

Also on Thursday, despite 90 degree heat, five beaches were closed and posted because of high bacteria counts. The Board of Health is continuing to monitor the situation.
