Week In Review: July 25, through July 30

The week started off with a recap of Marblehead Race Week and a feature on a popular sport in town.

Things got heated leading up to Wednesday's Board of Selectmen meeting as those on both sides of the school override issue turned out.

It was originally believed School Committee Chair Patricia Blackmer and Superintendent Paul Dulac would ask the selectmen for a fall special election. In a surprise announcement, Blackmer told the committee that Glover School supporters would rethink their plans to build a new school.

In other government news, renovations to Abbott Hall were approved.

Marblehead sports continued to show strength this week as the 9-year-olds secured a spot in this weekend's playoffs and U12 Softball continued to have a good season despite a loss this week.

In light of a recent study regarding children and lice, the Marblehead school nurse said the town is compliant with the new regulations.

Marblehead's connection to Hollywood continued this week with the town's connection to hit "Charlie St. Cloud" that opened Friday.
