Week In Review: May 23 to May 30

History was made this week when selectmen reluctantly voted to move the Precinct 1 polling location from the Old Town House to the Community Center. 

Because the Old Town House is not wheelchair accessible, the state told the town they are not in compliance with state regulations. 

The state also found that the voting place for Precincts 2, 3 and 4 also have violations, but those violations can be corrected for the special election on June 15.  The violations at the Star of the Sea Community Center on Atlantic Avenue will have to be addressed for future elections. The next election is June 15.

The School Committee got ready for the next year with the election of new chair Patricia Blackmer .

Soaring temperatures meant thoughts turned toward the holiday weekend and the official start of summer. While lifeguards won't be on the beaches until later this month, Harbormaster Charlie Dalferro reminded residents on boat safety. 

Friday night Marblehead High School Seniors got dressed to the nines and headed into Boston for Prom. Before boarding buses to prom, they walked the red carpet in front of MHS with cheering family and friends alongside. Check out the prom slideshow to see your friends and family.

A variety of Memorial Day events are planned in Marblehead tomorrow. Take the time to remember those who have served and continue to serve the country.
