Woman Can't Sleep And Youths Throw Rocks At Cars

This is an excerpt from the Marblehead Police log from Thursday through Saturday morning.

  • At 9:12 a.m. Thursday, a woman reported she may have driven off with her purse on top of her car on West Shore Drive. 
  • At 4:34 p.m. Thursday, an Ocean Avenue woman reported she parked her car and during the time she was away, someone threw a rock through the window and stole her backpack.
  • At 5:28 p.m. Thursday, a Jackson Road homeowner said someone shot a BB through his garage window sometime that day.
  • At 7:22 p.m. Thursday, police found kids throwing rocks over the wall along Devereux Beach toward cars driving on the causeway.
  • At 9:10 p.m. Thursday, a Pond Street woman reported two males came up on her porch and knocked on her door "with tubes on their faces. They reportedly said something to the woman and then proceeded toward Orne Street
  • At 9:34 p.m. Thursday, police received several calls about an erratic driver on Ocean Avenue. Maura Ann Powers, 54, 37 Pleasant St., Marblehead, was arrested and charged with driving while under the influence of alcohol, negligent driving and marked lanes violation.                    
  • At 11:54 p.m. Thursday, a woman called from Lighthouse Lane to say four males were rude to her after she asked why they were in the ladies room. They left in a green sedan. Police pulled over a green sedan with four teens in it, but they denied speaking with anyone. There was no vandalism at the bathroom. Police told the woman they had spoken to people in a green sedan, but the woman said the sedan was a different shade of green.
  • At 8:05 a.m. Friday, a Columbia Road woman told police she saw a male in a green van going through bags of trash and recycling in her neighborhood. She was told that this activity was allowed. She then gave police his license plate and said that the vehicle had a brake light out.
  • At 10:38 a.m. Friday, a resident called police about the Disney film crew filming on Pleasant Street. She believed they were taking and damaging the police sign on the corner of Pleasant and Gerry streets. Police checked and everything was in order.
  • Two people were transported to the hospital Friday at 11:38 a.m., after a motor vehicle crash on Humphrey Street. The injuries were minor and because one of the passengers was a child, the mother wanted the child checked out.
  • At 10:06 p.m. Friday, a group of teens took a banner off a tent at the Eastern Yacht Club and ran away.
  • At 2:29 a.m. Saturday, a Sewall Street resident called police about a moped driving down the street. The police advised the woman that it's a public way. She informed police she cannot sleep so she will be out in a reflective vest jogging and cleaning. 
  • At 5:29 a.m. Saturday, two screens were reported missing from the cafeteria windows at Marblehead High School.
