'Your LOL and OMG Can Wait,' MassDOT Signs Say Labor Day Weekend

State Police said their goal is to have "zero" traffic fatalities this weekend.

“Put down the phone ... your LOL and OMG can wait.”

That message appeared on MassDOT signs Friday morning across the state for Labor Day weekend.

State Police also said they will be out in force this weekend looking for drunk drivers.

“Our goal is to have zero fatalities this holiday weekend,” Lt. Col. Edward Amodeosaid said Thursday.

The “LOL” message was one of the winners in a “#DOTspeak” contest organized by MassDOT.

Earlier this year, the highway signs read “Use yah blinkah.”

On Columbus Day weekend, the signs will read “Make yah Ma proud, wear yah seatbelt.”
