5 Things You Need to Know Today: Aug. 4

Here is a list of things going on in and around Marlborough today.

1. It is expected to be a beautiful, if slightly cooler, day today in Marlborough, says the National Weather Service. There should be partly-sunny skies with a high of 76 degrees. 

2. Congratulations to Amelia Kulik, of Maynard, who has been awarded a 2011 Middlesex Savings Charitable Foundation Scholarship. She is a graduate of in Marlborough, and will receive $1,000 to support her studies at Northeastern University.

3. There is a really cool race coming up in neighboring Stow: "Horses, Hybrids, electric cars, vehicles powered by water, flying machines, all poised to solve the transportation issues of the day. The Collings Foundation will host an extraordinary event that pits some of the greatest mobility based technological advancements against each other in “Race of the Century". This event will take place Aug. 20 and 21 at the Collings Foundation, 137 Barton Rd., Hudson.

4. Join the Marlborough Chamber of Commerce for a small group networking event in the Chamber's conference room on Friday from 8 to 9 a.m. This is a time for members and future members to learn more about the Chamber and to make some new contacts. 5. The Marlborough Conservation Commission in addition to several other local government bodies will meet today. Click here for times and locations.
